Dearest Kat and Josh,
The first time I met you two we were dealing with the craziness of narrow Boston streets following a big snow, with non-existent parking, and only slippery footprints called “sidewalks” that I had to navigate with all my photo equipment. But when I arrived in your cozy then – home, all the stress of my commute disappeared: I was clearly among friends… (yes, I’m totally saying “awwwww” as I write this!) That was almost three years and four photo sessions ago and then you guys had the nerve to *move away* (for like, career purposes!). But lucky for me, there are still reasons you are pulled back here, and I was beyond thrilled when last May you booked a fall session. Having met your boys as brand new people, and now seeing them on the cusp of three – I was so delighted to get a glimpse of their big-kid selves. And Josh, you totally cracked me up when, following the third or forth stick removal from small hands, I asked you if you remembered loving playing with sticks as a boy. You said something along the lines of, “are you kidding me? I STILL love playing with sticks! It’s really hard to insist the boys stop doing so when I really just want to join them.”In case you weren’t sure, or had forgotten, you two are rockstars! Juggling super demanding careers and caring for two VERY fast paced and energetic humans, along with all the regular life stuff, I could see – and hear – so clearly your exhaustion. But you guys are doing it all, and surviving, and managing to smile and laugh with joy at the non-stop hecticness that is raising two boys.
I swear you two came to the shoot with the whole snack aisle, and I think panda snacks and Mott’s should know that they played a key role in the success of this session 🙂 And, of course, the quite extended imaginary bunny families that never failed to lure the boys back to where we needed them for photos. To my dear friends, whose made-up name (that I made up) I still don’t really pronounce correctly, it means so much to me that I got to be your photographer again this year. I hope these photos help to remind you of how much beauty there is in this super hard time of life….
With much love,
A postscript for you all:
